Voice-over and narration

Record scripts for video, e-learning, audiobooks or internal tools — in a compact narration booth on Van Woustraat, with an engineer for level, space and sync when needed.

Voice-over recording at table with broadcast mic.

Voice-over and narration focuses on clear speech, not sung dynamics. The 9 m² booth is set up for long reads: broadcast mic, quiet ventilation, script stand and headphones without fatigue. Isa Koster or Ruben Smit run sessions; Mieke van der Berg schedules longer audiobook blocks.

Unlike vocal recording for music, the priority is articulation, steady pace and low noise floor. Timecode sync to picture is available by arrangement. Rates: hourly, a fixed session up to two hours raw, or per page for audiobooks. Book via contact; cancel free within 5 days per terms.

Process

  1. 1

    Script and rights

Send final script, pronunciation notes and guide audio if any. Confirm you have rights to record the text.

  2. 2

    Schedule

We estimate pages or minutes, pick hourly, session or per-page rate, and hold time within Wed–Fri 10–20, Sat 11–16.

  3. 3

    Recording

Level and pop protection first; then takes per paragraph or scene. Breaks are built in for long reads.

  4. 4

    Delivery

Raw or lightly edited WAV, named per file or chapter. Sync markers on request; archive 24 months.

Typical clients

Marketing teams for corporate video, e-learning producers, publishers sampling audiobook chapters, animation studios needing dubbing, founders voicing investor videos. Artists recording sung rap belong in vocal recording; we stay with spoken word.

Minimum age 16 for booking alone. Minors need guardian consent and clear script rights.

Booth and signal path

The narration booth sits apart from music booths in our 3-room facility. At 9 m² it stays dry yet comfortable for seated reads. Broadcast arm and pop filter control plosives; the engineer watches sibilance and room tone.

Timecode or guide sync feeds through headphones — provide frame rate and start point. We do not mix music under voice-over by default; that is mixing after export.

Audiobook per page

Long works often use €45 per recorded page (A4 equivalent at normal read speed). That keeps publisher budgets predictable; pickups after author edits are outside the first pass unless agreed.

A session up to two hours raw (€280) suits corporate scripts finished in one morning. Hourly (€78) remains for short pickups or retakes.

Script prep

Final text in an editable format (doc/pdf/txt), not unscanned images. Mark brand names, numbers and abbreviations. For multilingual jobs: one language per session keeps quality high.

  • Phonetic notes for proper nouns
  • Guide video or audio when sync is required
  • Desired filename per chapter
  • Head and tail silence for editing

Editing and revisions

Default delivery is raw or lightly edited — not heavy dialog editing for film unless booked. 2 revision rounds cover engineer choices (level, space), not full client script rewrites after recording.

Changed text after the session is new recording time. Lip-sync dubbing needs extra planning — discuss before the session via email. If you want breaths and stumbles trimmed, say how tight the edit should be — that affects turnaround and cost beyond the standard session.

For e-learning modules we sometimes deliver one file per slide; mark slide numbers in the script so exports match your authoring tool during review.

Delivery formats

WAV 24-bit/48 kHz mono or stereo as agreed; broadcast WAV 16-bit/44.1 kHz on request. Files per scene, chapter or single master.

FAQ

Can you record several languages in one session?

We recommend one language per block for consistency. Multiple languages mean separate sessions or days. Mixed-language corporate videos are usually faster when each language is booked back-to-back with the same engineer.

Do you supply music or sfx?

No — voice only. Music and sfx are yours or via mixing after delivery.

How does video sync work?

Send a guide with timecode; we feed it in headphones. Complex dubbing needs extra hours — arrange via contact first.

What counts as one audiobook page?

Roughly one A4 at normal read speed, excluding title pages. Unsure? Send the manuscript for an estimate. Footnotes and quoted lines count when they are read aloud.

Can you record ambient atmosphere?

This service is spoken word in the narration booth. Ambient or music: live recording or vocal recording.
